My Top 4 Wardrobe Essentials

1.8.12-1

Wardrobe essentials are something I hold very near and dear to my heart. Every single piece / type of piece mentioned here is a favorite of mine and something I wear more often than not. These pieces are functional, practical, and totally, utterly adored by me. I hope you guys can gain some insight into my personal style and perhaps add some cool new pieces to your wishlists!

  1. Combat boots / Doc Martens. My Doc Martens are by far my favorite shoes I own. I plan on accumulating more and more colors / patterns of these amazing boots! They’re ultra comfortable now that I’ve broken them in, and they are totally weather-resistant, making them an excellent choice for varying climates and conditions. Plus, they look awesome. They are so cool and punk. I adore mine. You really can’t go wrong with Doc Martens. At $120-$200 depending on the model, they are excellent investment pieces that can last a literal lifetime.
  2. Beanies. If 2012 was the year of red lipstick in my life, then 2013 is the year of the beanie. Oh my gosh, guys. This whole phenomenon can be summed up simply: how can you not love beanies?! They’re stylish, varied (you can find one in just about every color / pattern / type of knit), cozy, and perfect to mask bad hair days. Don’t feel like showering to fix up your nasty bedhead? Do it the Sam way: throw on a beanie and call it a day! The one pictured above was from H&M and cost literally $5. I also love Neff beanies; I buy mine at my local skater shop, Zumiez.
  3. Leather jackets. Every year, my leather jacket collection grows. What can I say? They’re warm, fantastically versatile, awesomely comfortable, very stylish, and can be purchased at any price point. My faux leather jacket above, my personal favorite, was purchased for $30 on sale at New York & Company. For staying warm and fashionable, leather jackets are absolutely unmatched, in my opinion.
  4. Jeans in straight or skinny cuts. Personally, I love straight leg jeans. I have curvy legs and thighs, so jeans with a little more stretch and relax in their fit are much more flattering to my body type. This is why I often size up for comfort when buying jeans, too. I adore my DKNY jeans in picture 4 (a bargain for $25 at TJ Maxx last season!) and my GAP skinnies ($28 and 50% off at my local GAP outlet.) Jeans can take your outfits from night to day, casual to dressy. You can style them for an edgy look, boho look, preppy local, hipster look…the list is interminable. I highly recommend scouring your local shops for a pair of jeans that fit, flatter, and suit your personal tastes. They’re the most-worn pieces in my wardrobe!

love all these essentials and how you’ve laid out your blog post. Personally not a fan of beanies because of my crazy curly ‘fro but they do look good on you! I love Docs too, my latest pair has been one from their collab with Liberty of London and they’re simply magical!
